Man Kills Wife, Mother-in-law

BENGALURU: Peenya police have launched a manhunt for a 32-year-old man who bludgeoned his wife and mother-in-law to death with a grinding stone at Neelagedarnahalli near Shivapura in the police station limits.

The deceased have been identified as Chandrakala (23) and her mother Omkaramma (62).

According to sources, Chandrakala had married the accused Basavaraj, but the couple later separated.  She was living with her mother in Shivapura for the last two years and worked at a garment factory. The couple has two children, aged six and two. The incident came to light on Wednesday around 7.30 am when the children woke up to find the bodies of their mother and grandmother.

Basavaraj had come to the city on January 2 on the pretext of meeting his children and had been staying with them since then. On Tuesday night, he attempted, in vain, to convince his wife to return to his village.

An argument ensued and when things got out of hand, Omkaramma intervened. Basavaraj then bludgeoned both the women, and fled.
