Shrushti Licensee Denied Advance Bail

BENGALURU: The anticipatory bail petition of Dr Chandan, licensee of city-based Shrushti Global Medicare, was dismissed by the High Court on Tuesday.

Justice A V Chandrashekar dismissed the bail petition citing the seriousness of the case.

The plea cannot be considered as custodial trial needs to be done in this case, the judge said.

It may be recalled that K T Gurumurthy, a Bengaluru-based fertility specialist, was arrested in connection with fraud in surrogacy cases.

Notice to Govt

A division bench of Justices K L Manjunath and S Sujatha on Tuesday issued notices to some government departments in connection with PIL filed by the Legal Services Authority over delay in compensating  accident victims. The bench issued notices to Transport Department commissioner, DG&IGP and insurance companies. The petition contended that there was delay in disposing claims by the Motor Accidents Claim Tribunal as accident information reports were not submitted immediately by the department, as per rules.
