Woman, 2 Men Held for Robbery

BENGALURU: Three people, including a 36-year-old woman, were arrested for robbery. Kengeri police arrested Prathima (36), Gangadhar (20) and Amanullah (19), all residents of Kengeri Satellite Town. Three other accused, Shira Manjunath, Sun City Manjunath and Kiran, are absconding, said police.

Police said Gangadhar had asked Prathima for money. However, Prathima said she herself was in need of money and the duo hatched a plan to rob Prathima’s relative Sheela. Prathima took Sheela out for a bike ride on the pretext of teaching her how to ride. As planned, Gangadhar, Amanullah and three others robbed Sheela of her gold chain. Prathima also pretended to be a victim and wore a fake gold chain which was also snatched. A complaint was filed with the Kumbalgodu police.

When Kengeri police questioned Gangadhar, he spilled the beans about Prathima’s involvement. On being interrogated, Prathima confessed, police said. The police recovered Sheela’s gold chain.
