This Driver Faces 67 Cases

BENGALURU: A BMTC driver who was booked on Wednesday for wrong parking turned out to be a serial offender with 66 traffic cases pending against him.

M A Chandrappa was driving Bus No 356 CW (KA 01-F-9393), plying between Silk Board and Wipro. He had parked the bus across the road near the Infosys stop in Electronics City Phase I.

Blocking traffic on the main road, he refused to move despite repeated warnings from Traffic Inspector Mohammed. When Chandrappa started arguing with Mohammed, the policeman got him to park and alight from the vehicle.

As Mohammed entered Chandrappa’s details in his electronic device, he was taken aback to see that the bus driver had committed 66 traffic violations since May 2014. He was caught in the middle of his 67th recorded violation. Mohammed seized the bus and took Chandrappa to the station.

Police collected a fine of Rs 6,600 and sent Chandrappa’s licence to the Regional Transport office, recommending its suspension.
