BENGALURU: The highly decomposed body of a 34-year-old daily wager was found in a rented house in Deshabandhu Nagar in Vidyaranyapura on Saturday.

According to the police, the deceased, Ashok, was a resident of Rajagopal Nagar. The incident came to light when neighbours sensed a foul smell emanating from a locked house and alerted the house owner Venkatesh, who then informed the police.

The family members of the deceased had filed a missing complaint with Rajagopal Nagar police on July 15.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Venkatesh had rented the house to one Sundaram, who misled the owner by giving fake details of himself. However, the police identified him as Saravana, a friend of Ashok. Saravana is absconding.
