Road Accident in Bengaluru Kills Two MBA Students

BENGALURU:Two people, including a 23-year-old MBA student, died in accidents in the city on Tuesday.

Ramya, a second-year MBA student at a private college, was run over by a speeding BBMP lorry at Kundalahalli Gate on Varthur Road.

Police said Ramya and her friend were going to college on a scooter around 8:30 am. Ramya was riding pillion. The lorry, carrying garbage, rammed into the scooter from the rear. The rider was thrown in the air while Ramya came under the wheels of the lorry. She sustained severe head injuries and was declared brought dead in a private hospital.

Whitefield traffic police have arrested the driver Narasimha.

In another incident, a 27-year-old private company employee was run over by a speeding BMTC bus on Cubbon Road. The deceased is Trishul, a resident of Shivajinagar. 

A BMTC bus plying between Hoskote and Shivajinagar hit his bike from the rear and ran over him, killing him on the spot. The bus driver abandoned the bus and fled. Shivajinagar traffic police, are on the lookout for him.

Gift Store Gutted

A fire broke out in a gift shop in R T Nagar on Tuesday morning. Furniture and other gift articles worth around Rs 60 lakh were gutted. However, no casualty was reported as the shop had not opened for business for the day.

Fire and emergency officials said the fire broke out in Much More Gift Centre in Adarsh Nagar on KHB Road. Six fire tenders were used to douse the fire.
