'Auto Driver Can't Walk For Months'

BENGALURU:  Auto driver Shivakumar, who was injured in the accident involving a BMTC bus at KS Layout on Monday, will not be able to forget the impact of the accident in a hurry.

The 38-year-old, the sole bread-winner of his family, has a fractured right leg and doctors at the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma And Orthopaedics have said that he cannot walk for the next three-four months.

Shivakumar’s wife Sudha (34) has a left femur fracture. Their son Siddappa and niece Rakhshitha have suffered head injuries and are being treated at different hospitals in the city. Their condition is not critical, said doctors.

Sudha is also admitted at the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma And Orthopaedics. While Rakhshitha is being treated at National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), and Siddaiah is at Sagar Hospital. “I blacked out and when I gained consciousness, I saw my leg was in a cast. I blame this on BMTC,”  Shivakumar said.

Meanwhile, NIMHANS denied there was a delay in treatment due to ventilator shortage as claimed by the victims’ kin.
