CCTVs to Keep an Eye on BU Exam Dept

BENGALURU: The Examination Department of Bangalore University will now be under video surveillance. Following recent reports of scams, the university has decided to install CCTVs at the department.

All the sections and rooms of the department, which has shifted to the Jnana Bharathi campus, and has been renamed Pariksha Bhavan, will be under surveillance.

The proposal, submitted by the registrar (evaluation), will be placed at a meeting of the technical committee headed by the vice-chancellor on Friday. Under the proposal, 48 CCTV cameras will be installed at a budget of Rs 19 lakh. Registrar (Evaluation) K N Ningegowda told Express, “We are expecting to get clearance at the technical committee meeting.”

He said this would ensure transparency during exam-related works. “We are trying to link it to the web so that the public can view the activities,” he said.

Meanwhile, BU also created an e-mail address, buexamredressal@gmail.com, to address the grievances of students.
