'1 Sex Video From Hidden Camera Uploaded Every Hour'

Hidden-camera sex videos being uploaded from India have increased drastically in 2015 when compared to the past three years.

BENGALURU:   Every hour at least one sex video from a hidden camera gets uploaded on the Internet in the country, said S Amar Prasad Reddy, additional director-general, National Cyber Safety and Security Standards (NCSSS) on Friday.

Addressing a press conference on ‘Dialogue on Sexual Abuse on the Internet and the Threat to Women and Children in India’ at Press Club, he said such content leads to a rise in cases of sexual abuse in the country.

“Hidden-camera sex videos being uploaded from India have increased drastically in 2015 when compared to the past three years. Effective policy-making and creating a strong Act is needed,” Reddy said.

He said to deal with these harassments, a three-part strategy of directly confronting the harassers has been developed, along with other tactics for eradicating them on a wider scale. Of the images available on the Internet, 83.5 per cent contain content pertaining to sexual abuse. “Internet’s sexual abuse content and hate literature are available to curious children that happen to bump into them,” he said.

Reddy said women and children are being victimised in cyberspace by men who send obscene e-mails and stalk on chat rooms.

He urged the government to amend the IT policy to curb such illegal activities. The National Cyber Safety and Security Standards in association with National Cyber Defence Research Centre and Cyber Forensics Centre in Kalasalingam University, Srivilliputtur, Tamil Nadu, are developing an internet monitoring framework to keep track of every happening on the internet in India with the help of internet service providers.

Studies by NCSSS made these shocking revelations: Online Sex Games: Online sex games are a big threat in India. Companies making these games lure children to play them and get them addicted.

7,200 Kids Raped Every Year: Studies suggest that more than 7,200 children are raped every year. Many more cases go unreported. The reason for the increase in these crimes is sexual abuse content addiction. More than 3 crore sexual abuse content websites are floating around the globe.
