Garbage: Officials, Contractors Face the Heat

Uncleared garbage and bad roads proved to be costly for some officials and contractors after an inspection by city in-charge Minister Ramalinga Reddy.

BENGALURU: Uncleared garbage and bad roads proved to be costly for some officials and contractors after an inspection by city in-charge Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Tuesday.

The Minister along with Mayor Manjunath Reddy, BJP floor leader Padmanabha Reddy and Commissioner Kumar Naik inspected some areas in East zone. In Ulsoor, they found uncleared garbage and Reddy recommended the suspension of Ulsoor ward Assistant Engineer Srinivas  and also slapped a penalty of `50,000 penalty on the local garbage contractor.

Uncleared garbage coupled with bad roads made the minister suspend another assistant executive engineer in New Thippasandra ward. The garbage contractor was also slapped a penalty of `25,000. Shivajinagar Executive Engineer Nurulla Ameen and East Zone Chief Engineer Prasad were sent on leave for ten days due to the garbage and road problems under their wards, said a BBMP official.
