Marigowda bail plea: Judge recuses

BENGALURU: Justice B Sreenivase Gowda on Monday recused himself from hearing the anticipatory bail plea of Chief Minsiter Siddaramaiah’s aide K Marigowda, who is accused of threatening Mysuru DC C Shikha.

When the interim anticipatory bail came up for hearing in the morning session, Marigowda’s counsel requested the court to allow the plea as the accused intended to participate in the funeral of Rakesh Siddaramaiah.

However, Justice Gowda said he will direct the police to take Marigowda to the funeral if he surrenders before the local police. But the counsel did not agree  and said he had to take instructions from his client. Therefore, the matter was posted for Wednesday.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon session, Justice Gowda passed the order recusing himself from hearing the case. Therefore, the matter was placed before Justice Anand Byrareddy who will take up the hearing on Tuesday.

Marigowda, a former Mysuru Zilla Panchayat president, absconded after a case was registered against him.
