Tipper runs over 7-year-old

BENGALURU: A seven-year-old child was killed on the spot after a tipper truck rear-ended the two-wheeler he was travelling on near Dhoddakanhalli off Sarjapura road on Wednesday.

The deceased is Raunak, a first Standard student in a private school and a resident of Kaikondanahalli. The incident took place around 2 pm when Raunak was returning home after school with his mother Jyothi on a scooter. As they reached Doddakanahalli junction, the tipper, being driven negligently, hit the two-wheeler from the rear.

Due to the collision, Raunak fell on the right side of the road and came under the wheels of the lorry while his mother escaped with minor injuries.

Passersby rushed to the aid of the victims and found that Raunak had died on the spot. Sensing danger, the tipper driver fled.

Tension prevailed in the area after locals pelted stones at the tipper blaming the driver for being negligent. HSR Layout traffic police who came to the spot, dispersed the crowd.
