BENGALURU: Chairman of the House Committee on lake encroachments, K B Koliwad, has set a time frame for BBMP and BWSSB officials to complete preventive measures that will stop flooding in Kodichikkanahalli lake area.
On Thursday, the committee visited Kodichikkanahalli, that was recently flooded after Madiwala Lake overflowed. During the inspection, the residents and Bommanahalli MLA Satish Reddy blamed the Forest Department for not allowing work on the lake bund. They also blamed them for not allowing desilting work to be taken up.
Koliwad the directed the Forest Department not to cause hindrance to BBMP. He also directed BBMP to complete missing links of the drain network that will ensure smooth flow of water in low-lying areas within 45 days. He also directed BWSSB to complete work on a pump house and sewage treatment plant at Sarakki lake by December.
Transport minister Ramalinga Reddy said the work order to establish a bio-diversity park along with a sewage treatment plant worth `24.5 crore has been issued. He directed officials to complete the work by December.
