BENGALURU: BBMP will submit names and other details of officials who were involved in allowing constructions on the encroached lands to the state government.
During the council meeting on Monday, BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad said, “It is evident that BBMP officials are involved in creating fabricated documents as well as in illegally sanctioning land for constructions. We have written a letter to the principal secretary of Karnataka Urban Development Authority to give details of the officials who were holding posts since 2007. We will file a criminal case against them and also sack them.”
BBMP Mayor B N Manjunath Reddy said, “The demolition operation will continue and even the big players will not be spared. If we find any assistant zonal commissioner who converts agricultural or other lands devoted for public use to residential plots for private builders, we will take action.”
Prior to this, opposition leader Padmanabha Reddy told the mayor that innocent people are victims of the demolition operation. “You are identifying poor people and demolishing their houses. Firstly, take action against those officials who have fabricated the documents,” he told the mayor. Bommanahalli MLA Satish Reddy also blamed the BBMP, blaming it as the reason for the mess.
