Police constable commits suicide in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: A 35-year-old police constable committed suicide at his paramour’s house house in Bagaluru on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Fakruddin, who was working in crime division at Bagaluru police station. He was a native of Doddaballapura.

Police said, Fakruddin was married to Taj and they were residing at CV Ramanagar, along with their two children. Fakruddin allegedly had an extra marital affair with a woman, a resident of Bagaluru cross, where he hanged himself to the ceiling. His lover found his body on Saturday morning and alerted the Bagaluru police, who rushed to the spot and shifted body for the postmortem. A police official said, “Fakruddin had consumed alcohol before committing suicide. His wife Taj, in her statement, told us that she had no idea about the extra marital affair. We are also told that there was some financial dispute between Fakruddin and his paramour.”

According to police sources, Fakruddin was promoted as head constable recently and was transferred to Bagaluru station. He was upset over his work pressure, which could be one of reasons for suicide.

We are yet to take a statement from his paramour, which may reveal the exact reason, a senior police officer said.
