Priest robbed of Rs 20,000; murdered outside his house

A 55-year-old man was stabbed to death by unidentified persons in front of his house in Ulsoor on Friday. The assailants have made away with `20,000 cash and a gold chain.

The deceased has been identified as Vasuvelu, a resident of M G Garden in Ulsoor. He was a priest and had installed many idols of gods at his residence.


Police said the incident took place in the wee hours and came to light only when his family found him lying in a pool of blood. He was repeatedly stabbed by the assailants and preliminary investigations revealed that it is a case of murder for gain. “We are not ruling out the role of an insider in the crime and we have enough clues about the accused,” police said.


It is said that Vasu, along with his family members, was preparing to leave for the Om Shakti Temple in Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu on Friday.
