Seva Utsav to highlight space, aviation sectors

BENGALURU: Seva Utsav 2017 -- a four-day exhibition on space, aviation, defence and green lifestyle -- will be held from December 30 at the National High School Grounds in Basavanagudi.
Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, wife of Ananth Kumar, Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers announced the event here on Friday.
The event will be organised by Adhamya Chetana, a charitable trust run by her. About the event, she said, “We have been conducting this event for 15 years, but this time, it is special as President Pranab Mukherjee is inaugurating it on December 30.” The trust provides mid-day meals to schoolchildren apart from other social welfare activities.
The event will feature exhibits from many organisations in the defence and aerospace sectors such as ISRO, DRDO, HAL and BEL. The Indian Air Force Drill Team from Delhi will perform drills twice a day on three days.
Over 16 competitions, exhibitions of scientific accomplishments in the city, cultural programmes such as plays, Yakshagana and yoga as well as blood donation camp and seminars on the theme green lifestyle, will be part of the event.
Winners of an energy saving competition conducted in November, which saw over 50,000 participants, will be announced at the event. Popular sand artiste Sudarsan Pattanaik will create sand sculptures at the venue.
