Bengaluru Locals Protest Against African Students After Accident Kills Woman

Tense situation prevailed at Ganapathy Nagar in the city, after a woman was killed in an accident at around 7.30 pm on Sunday.

BENGALURU: Tense situation prevailed at Ganapathy Nagar in the city, after a woman was killed in an accident at around 7.30 pm on Sunday.

Following the accident, the car belonging to the international student was torched by an irate mob.

The deceased has been identified as Shaban Taj (35). The accused is Mohammed Ahmed Ismail, a citizen of Sudan.

According to the police, the accused was with another woman when the accident occurred.

A complaint was registered at Soladevanahalli Police Station.

Following the accident, police units were deployed near Acharya Institute and other educational institutions. While the aggrieved family and locals blamed the african student population for such accidents, an african student alleged that they are being repeatedly targeted by the locals.
