BENGALURU:  Tension prevailed at the Majestic bus stand after a fire broke out in a parked BMTC bus. No causalities were reported and fire and emergency officials, along with two fire tenders, rushed to the spot and after a one- and-a-half hour operation, the fire was completely doused.

Fire officials said that the accident occurred around 12 pm and the BMTC bus (route no 61A) was parked on platform 20. Some of the passengers were sitting inside the bus and it was about to leave the stop. Thick smoke billowed from the engine and the driver alerted the passengers to get off. One of the passengers alerted the fire and emergency department. Half of the bus was gutted in the fire.
