BENGALURU: A 21-year-old student of a private college committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling in her college hostel room in Hebbal on Saturday. Police claimed that she was upset over her mother’s advice to concentrate on studies.

The deceased has been identified as Sofia, a native of Kerala, a second-year BBA student. Though her family was living in Electronics City, she was staying in the college hostel.

Sofia also left a suicide note saying that she was feeling lonely and no one is there to take care of her and no one is responsible for her death, the police added.

It is also said that she had low attendance and the college authorities had informed her mother about this. Amruthahalli police are investigating.
