BENGALURU: The murder case of RSS worker R Rudresh took a curious turn on Friday with BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje accusing Infrastructure minister Roshan Baig of having a direct involvement in the killing. An angry Baig rubbished the allegation as a bundle of lies meant to disturb communal harmony in his Shivajinagar assembly constituency and also threatened to file a defamation suit against Karandlaje.

Karandlaje alleged that Baig was worried about the rising popularity of Rudresh in his constituency and that he hired contract killers to eliminate him. She demanded that the state government hand over the probe to NIA or CBI. She also sought Baig’s resignation.

She told Express that her statement was based on information she gathered during her interaction with police officers investigating the case and general opinion of the people of Shivajinagar.

Later BJP state general secretary CT Ravi and former BJP MLC Go Madhusudan also backed her statements.
