VTU imposes dress code on staff: Ties, shoes, formals, and no mobiles

BENGALURU: The teaching and non-teaching staff of Belagavi’s Visvesvaraya Technological University will henceforth have to adhere to a strict dress code.

The institute has issued a circular, a copy of which is available with New Indian Express, laying down a lengthy dress code to “uphold the decorum of the university."

Here’s the VTU dress code:
Male professors: Formals with blazer. On non-academic days, formals with shoes.
Assistant and associate profs: formals with a tie. On non-academic days, formals with shoes.
Female teaching staff: Saree on academic days and saree or salwar-kameez onnon-academic days.
Instructors: White aprons
Non-teaching staff (male): Formals with shoes
Non-teaching staff (female): Saree
Must: Clearly visible name plates during college hours, ID cards
Banned: Mobile phones
