BENGALURU: Want to locate an ATM with cash? Tired of standing in long queues for cash? Social networking sites could be of help.

The demonetization has kicked the wind out of people’s patience and use of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes. However in times such as these, people are trying to help each other through the internet. This, by posting information on ATMs with cash or on those with short queues on various social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook and Reddit.

Whenever a netizen was successful in taking out cash, he or she posted it on hashtags such as #atmswithcash, #workingatms and #atmsnearyou. These have been some of the popular searches on such social networks since demonetization started on November 8.

“Cash available at citi and standard chattered bank ATM’s in manyata tech park food court...not much crowd.. #ATMsWithCash #bangalore”, wrote one Ram Prakash on his Twitter.
Another Twitter user, Barun Singhania also gave a map of some functioning ATMs on November 14 and wrote

“Whoever came up with the idea, hats off. Let’s help each other.”
While it is not exactly known how successful such efforts have been, there are testimonials of a few cases where such information it seems have helped.
