Lecturers threaten to boycott evaluation

BENGALURU: Hundreds of lecturers working in government pre-university colleges staged a silent protest in front of the office of the Director of Pre-University education here on Friday. They demanded the fulfillment of promises made by the governmnet during the previous academic year.
The lecturers warned the department that they will boycott the evaluation work of  PUC-II exams this year if the government fails to consider their demands.

Thimmaiah Purle, Karnataka State PU Lecturers’ Association president said, “Last year, when we staged a protest, the government promised to fulfill our demands. But till date, nothing has been done. So we have decided to intensify our protest.”

“We have been requesting to set right the pay disparities and implement the Kumar Naik Committee report. But the government failed to keep the promise. This is just a beginning and in December, we will stage a protest in front of DC’s office in Bengaluru and in January, a massive protest will be organised at Freedom Park,” said Purle.
