BENGALURU: Within a week of a plumber killing his two sons in RBI Layout, another similar incident of a carpenter killing his seven-year-old son has sent shockwaves across the city.
Dispute in the family triggered crime in both these cases.
The 28-year-old carpenter hanged his seven-year-old son before committing suicide at their house in Whitefield on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Mahantharaju and his son Manohar.
Mahantharaju was a native of Andhra Pradesh and residing at Thubarahalli near Whitefield.
Police sources said the incident took place late on Friday night and the carpenter first hanged his son with a dupatta. He then hanged himself using the same dupatta.
The incident came to light when a relative tried to contact him over phone. On
getting no response, neighbours were asked to check. They peeped through the window and found the bodies hanging.Police were subsequently informed.
Mahantharaju had separated from his first wife a few years ago over some family dispute.
He married again but his second wife would often quarrel with him.
She had left Mahantharaju recently and he was upset over this. No suicide note was found.
