BENGALURU: Two 19-year-old engineering students died in a road accident on New BEL Road in the early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased are Gunavantha Sai, a native of Kolar, and Vishnu Naidu from Nanjungud. Sai was a 3rd semester student of industrial engineering while Naidu was pursuing architectural engineering, both from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology. They used to stay at a paying guest (PG) accommodation on 80-feet road in Sanjayanagar.

According to the police, at 12.45 am, both were heading back to their PG after attending a friend’s birthday party in Yeshwanthpur. On the way, Sai, who was riding the two-wheeler, lost control over the vehicle, rammed into a median and then a tree. Passersby rushed the duo to MS Ramaiah Hospital where doctors declared them brought dead. The victims were not wearing helmets. Preliminary investigation revealed that Sai had borrowed the KTM Duke bike from his friend to attend the party.
