BENGALURU: Desperately waiting for Jamie Dornan in ‘Fifty Shades Darker’? Well, you may have to wait longer until then hold on to your ‘between the sheets’ imagination for two sexy Indian men, if you find humour sexy that is.
Kunal Vijaykar and Cyrus Broacha will be here in the city performing ‘40 Shades of Grey (Hair)’ a standup cum theatrical revue, that lampoons the life and times of Indian men after 40.
City Express caught up with actor, director, food critic and performer Kunal to find out what Indian men in their 40s are really like. Kunal, however, is just 39, he tell us.
What is dating like for Indian men after they turn 40?
I think I would be pretty happy dating women, my age but I cannot, I’m married. If I am to answer for 40 year olds I would say the older you get the younger women you want to date.
What happens when Indian men hit 40?
For that you have to come and watch the show! Buy the tickets and come witness the doom and dismay of men that are 40, but I’m not 40.
What is sex like after 40 for Indian men?
Haven’t had sex in 30 years.
Is ‘Grey’ the new sexy?
The perception differs, I’ve known famous men, both Hollywood and Bollywood that dye their hair. So for probably some, black is sexy.
What changes do you see in Cyrus after he turned 40?
Definitely the weight! I can’t describe the fat that’s bulging from where all and how! And the lack of hair! He’s become more smelly and unbearable.
You play several characters for the show. Can you elaborate on what all characters these are?
I cannot tell you about all the characters, but I can definitely tell you about this one character that I play towards the end, a very sexy woman. So all the men out there who are done with their wives please do come.
The performance has been brought on stage by Raëll Padamsee’s Ace Productions. How did the play happen?
Raell and Cyrus have known each other since ages because they’re both over 40, I’m not so, I’ve met them a few years ago when I was 25. So yeah we’re just crazy people that meet every few years and decide we have to do something crazier. That’s how it happened.
Please tell us about your collaboration and the chemistry you share with Cyrus in the play.
It’s been ages with Cyrus now and I think we’re both just plain bored and sick of each other. And are secretly looking for ways to get rid of each other, I’ve known him for way to long ! You come and judge our chemistry.
Can you tell our readers what they can expect with the play?
You can expect a lot of madness. I can’t exactly describe, come to our show, wave hands at us, do anything to get cyrus’ attention and then see what happens. Watch the fun then after what Cyrus does to you !
