BENGALURU: Cheers and applause reverberated the Balagangadar ground at Vijaynagar as the students of Gouthama Siddaartha PU College celebrated 'Deeksha Commerce Fest' recently.

The annual college festival witnessed a footfall of 3,000 students from 18 colleges in the city.
The festival also saw celebrity presence with Prem, Srinagar Kitty, Dhruva Sarja and Rakshit Shetty.
Over 280 students from various colleges participated in 14 different events held at the festival.

Despite the scorching sun, students left no stone unturned give their best performance and to cheer the performers. The volley ball competition attracted a big crowd.

In addition to the sports and cultural events, the festival also offered a platform for students to boost their  entrepreneurial skills with food stalls.

“With this fest, we are exposing the students to a world of enterpreneurship with such miniscule experiences. In classrooms, we can only provide theoretical knowledge, but here we let them have a practical hand at things here,” says Dr B S Krishna, event organiser. The students were also very excited about holding food stalls.

“Six of us set up the stall. We made the dishes, set up the stall and also serve the food ourselves. So far, we have had good business and will split the profit among ourselves,” says Jyothi Jain, a student from KLE PU College Nagarbhavi.

The students were thrilled and ecstatic about the inter-college events at the festival.
“Not many colleges in the city organise inter college events like Deeksha, fortunately ours does,” says Vighnesh , a student from Siddaartha PU College.
The volunteers woure uniform blue T-shirts at the venue.
