Bengaluru CBSE schools told to refund excess amount
BENGALURU: The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KCPCR) has directed two city schools affiliated to Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) to refund the excess amount collected from parents by insisting them to buy textbooks from a particular outlet.
On July 24, the commission passed an interim order where it directed the schools to submit a compliance report along with proof of payment to the parents within a period of one month from the date of order.
The commission also asked the CEO and proprietor of Easyshopee to submit the list of 32 schools to whom they supply books among other things.
Despite the CBSE and the state government directing the affiliated schools not to indulge in commercial activities, some schools in the city continue to insist that parents buy textbooks from a particular outlet.
A complaint was registered with the commission against six schools. The commission issued summons to the principals of these schools and also to the CEO and proprietor of the shop Easyshopee. They were directed to appear before the commission on June 24. This was published in Express on June 23.
