BENGALURU: In addition to the official water shutdown announced in many parts of the city due to pipeline work undertaken at Netkal Balancing Reservoir, the breakdown of a valve in the main water pipeline at Neelasandra resulted in total water disruption in surrounding areas for two more days.
Ambedkar Nagar, L R Nagar, Rose Garden, Austin Town and Neelasandra areas were the affected areas. Water supply was partially restored on Wednesday and is expected to be fully restored by Thursday.
Following protest by residents on Tuesday night, Shantinagar MLA N A Haris had to call up top BWSSB officials late night to ensure the valve and pipeline was set right.“Residents were waiting to get water after two days of shutdown on June 28 and June 29 and then this problem occurred. So, they ran out of patience,” Haris told Express.A top BWSSB official told Express: “Since the valve at Neelasandra was being operated after a long while, the shutter refused to open”.
