BENGALURU: Students who were stopped at Cantonment Railway station on Tuesday have been sent to their respective madrassas on Wednesday.

As many as 160 children were detained at the station after police received an anonymous call claiming that the children were being trafficked from Bangladesh to Kerala. The children had boarded Guwahati Express, which reached the station in the afternoon. They were in fact returning to their respective madrassas in the state after Ramzam vacation.

A senior police officer from Cantonment Railway police station said they are still verifying the ID proofs of the students and their guardians. It will take a couple of days to complete the process, he said. On Wednesday, most of the children were sent along with their teachers to different cities across the state.
