BENGALURU: Following the unceremonious sacking of an employee of Tech Mahindra, a sound clip of the firing which went viral last week, the Forum for IT Employees (FITE) has filed a petition against the company with the Labour Department.
The Bengaluru-based employee was fired by the company in the first week of June owing to ‘cost cutting’ reasons. A conversation between the HR personnel and the employee which went viral on sound cloud, had revealed that he was given a day’s notice to resign failing which the company would terminate his employment without giving him experience letter.
The petition to the Labour Department was given on June 15, according to a statement made by FITE on Wednesday.
Soon after the sound clip was circulated on social media, chairman of the company Anand Mahindra apologised on Twitter, for the manner in which the employee was fired.
The employee is expected to meet Tech Mahindra representatives on July 14, in a conciliation meeting.
