Bengaluru: Jilted lover stabs woman to death

A 25-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her lover at Deepanajali Nagar in the city on Tuesday after she rejected his marriage proposal.

BENGALURU: A 25-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her lover at Deepanajali Nagar in the city on Tuesday after she rejected his marriage proposal.
The accused has been identified as Girish, a painter, and the deceased as Shobha, both  residents of Deepanjali Nagar.  

The police said Girish, armed with a knife,  came to Shobha’s house with his marriage proposal when she was washing clothes. When she rejected his proposal, Girish stabbed her multiple times. She ran into her neighbour’s house where Girish stabbed her again. Her neighbour Vijayamma who came to her rescue was injured in the hand.

Locals rushed Shobha to Victoria Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. Vijayamma who underwent treatment was said to be out of danger. Police sources said Girish and Shobha had an affair for a year. Girish was married and has two children and they live in their native place Tumakuru. Shobha was living with her elder brother who has been working as a lecturer, after her parents passed away 10 years ago. Shobha was an MBA graduate and was searching for a job.

“Girish wanted to marry Shobha but she did not reciprocate. After Girish repeatedly demanded that she marry him, Shobha started avoiding him. This enraged him”, sources said.
DCP (west) Anucheth M N said, “We have got information that Girish and Shobha knew each other for a long time. We are investigating the case and efforts are being made to nab the accused. We have already formed teams to nab him”.
