Police said nearly 500 drivers pelted stones and damaged window panes. Furniture and some office equipment in the office were reportedly damaged. “We are analysing CCTV footage to nab the culprits,” said a police officer in HSR Layout police station. “No complaint has been registered and we have also not made any arrests. However, information was passed by control room and we have defused the situation,” the official added.
Uber officials were unavailable for comment. UTO Drivers and Owners Association president Tanveer Pasha said, “Drivers are frustrated because of the negligence of the government and cab companies despite several petitions and protests. They must have lost their patience and targeted the office.”
Deputy Commissioner of Police South-east Boralingaiah said, “We will book a rioting case against those who vandalised Uber office.”
