Assam student jumps off hostel building at Dayananda Sagar College

A 17-year-old PU student committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of his hostel building on Dayananda Sagar college premises on Sunday.

BENGALURU: A 17-year-old PU student committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of his hostel building on Dayananda Sagar college premises on Sunday. He left a three-page suicide note and police said he took the extreme step due to some personal reasons. The deceased Jehan Ullah Alam, a native of Assam was studying commerce and staying in Kumara Swamy Layout hostel.

A senior police officer said that the incident took place around 2.30 pm. Alam came out of his room on the third floor and jumped from the corridor. Students who were present in the hostel found him lying in a pool of blood and informed the police. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Alam left a note stating that no one was responsible for his death.

“He mentioned some personal reasons, which we cannot reveal at the moment. He also apologised to his parents for his act. We are investigating the case from all angles,” the officer added.

KS Layout police informed his parents, who live in Mumbai and they were on the way to the city. “We will proceed with the investigation once the parents’ statements are taken,” said a police official.
