BENGALURU: Hulimavu police have taken one person into custody on Saturday for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a 28-year-old man on Bannerghatta Road in Basavanapura on July 2.

Police said the victim Nandeesh works as a supervisor in Aravind Garments on B G Road.  He usually used to park his two-wheeler in front of his girlfriend Shwetha’s house and go to work in a car from there. On July 2, he went to Shwetha’s house around 6.30 pm and around 8.30 pm, an unknown person, aged about 30, entered the house. Nandeesh asked him who he was. Later, two more people barged into the house and dragged him into a car.

The trio took Nandeesh to C K Palya and hit him on the hand with machetes. They also hit him on the legs repeatedly. They then threw him near Koli Farm gate. An auto driver who was heading in the same direction saw Nandeesh and admitted him in a private hospital.

Police said the complainant told them that five persons had assaulted him and added that they have arrested one person so far. Efforts are being made to nab the others.
Police sources said, “The investigations and questioning of the arrested accused revealed that Nandeesh and one of the accused were in love with the same girl. The girl had rejected the proposal of the accused which led to the incident.”

Hulimavu police have registered a case.
