BENGALURU: The CBI on Thursday arrested a Garrison Engineer (Lt.Colonel) and an Assistant Garrison Engineer, both working in MES (Military Engineer Service), Karwar, in a bribery case.
According to CBI, the officials had demanded Rs 1.5 lakh and `1 lakh respectively from the complainant, a civil contractor executing civil works at MES, Karwar, for clearing pending bills. It was alleged that as first installment, one of them demanded Rs 50,000 as gold and the other official had demanded cash.
The CBI officers laid a trap and the Garrison Engineer was caught red-handed while accepting 30 gold coins and Assistant Garrison Engineer was caught while accepting Rs 50,000.
