BJP leader’s killing not a political murder: Bengaluru cops

Bengaluru Rural police on Friday interrogated the prime accused in the killing of a BJP leader in the city outskirts on Wednesday and revealed that it was not a political murder.

BENGALURU: Bengaluru Rural police on Friday interrogated the prime accused in the killing of a BJP leader in the city outskirts on Wednesday and revealed that it was not a political murder.Police said the assailant planned to attack over a dispute.

Anekal unit vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Party SC, ST Yuva Morcha, Harish, (40), was hacked to death by a group of armed men in Suryanagar on Wednesday. During the arrest, the prime accused Raju tried to attack a senior police officer. Raju sustained injuries after a police officer opened fire.

A senior police officer said that soon after the murder four of the assailants Raju, Sandeep, Karthik, and Santosh were arrested. Raju told the police that Harish tried to rule the locality and stopped Raju from fishing in a lake in Anekal. Harish claimed he had taken a tender for fishing in the lake and abused Raju’s brothers when they were fishing at the lake.

Raju along with his brothers and a few associates hatched a plot to kill Harish due to this dispute. The two were also involved in a land dispute.  Two more accused are still at large and further investigations are on.
