Police said the arrested is Jagadish, a resident of Hulimavu. He works for Delhi Public School in Konanakunte near JP Nagar.

The traffic police, who were on a special drive around 7.45 am to crack down on drunk school bus drivers, caught Jagadish on Bannerghatta Road and subjected him to the alcometer test. It revealed that he had consumed alcohol beyond permissible limits.

Police said that 17 children were travelling in the bus, and alternative arrangements were made to send the children safely to school. Later, Jagadish was taken into custody.

According to police, the school authorities subjected all the drivers to the alcometer test before they started the duty. But Jagadish managed to consume alcohol after he got into the bus. When the school authorities were informed about his arrest they were shocked and said that he would be sacked. “During the checking we found another alcohol bottle under the driver’s seat,” the police said.
