Two dead after speeding BMTC rams into bike

Two people died after a speeding BMTC bus collided into their bike near Kolathur Farm on Hesarghatta main road, on Thursday night.

BENGALURU: Two people died after a speeding BMTC bus collided into their bike near Kolathur Farm on Hesarghatta main road, on Thursday night. Reckless driving by the BMTC driver is blamed for the mishap.

BMTC bus driver Chambaiah has been arrested.

The deceased are — Arogya Raju(41), and his co-worker Peter(38), both residents of Medi Agrahara village near Yelahanka and were working as daily wagers.

Police said, “The incident occurred around 9.45pm when the duo was heading home from Yelahanka after finishing their work. Peter was riding the bike while Raju was riding pillion.”

When they were passing the Kolathur Farm, a speeding BMTC bus which was coming from the opposite direction, rammed into the bike. Raju came under the wheels of the bus and died on the spot.
Peter succumbed to injuries in a hospital on Friday.

The bus was coming from MS Palya and the bikers were not wearing helmets.
Yelahanka traffic police are investigating the case. They ruled that the victims were not under the influence of alcohol.
