Gang robs flower vendor of Rs 15K, gold chain 

A gang of unidentified men robbed a flower vendor of his gold chain and `15,000 cash on Sunday night.

BENGALURU: A gang of unidentified men robbed a flower vendor of his gold chain and `15,000 cash on Sunday night. Periyar Swamy, a native of Tamil Nadu, was heading home on his bike from City Market when the incident took place.


Police said Swamy was going to Bamboo Bazar near Shivajinagar after selling his flowers at City Market. A gang followed him on separate bikes. They stopped Swamy on N R Road and threatened him with a knife. Swamy, however, tried to raise an alarm and this is when the men pushed his bike and fled the scene with the chain and cash. 


A passerby helped Swamy reach Kalasipalya police station to file a complaint. Police are using a CCTV footage from a nearby bank to ascertain the identity of the gang members.According to locals in the area, such incidences are common. Tulasiram, a localite, said there is no proper police patrolling in the area and habitual offenders often target lone people. Many such incidents take place in the area but only a few file police complaint, he said.
