BENGALURU: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Chief Crew Controller of Central Railway, Solapur Division, Wadi, Kalaburagi district for demanding and accepting a bribe of `20,000 from the complainant.


Sources said that the bribe was allegedly demanded from the complainant for certifying his claims of `11 lakh for expenses incurred on meal coupons, gas cylinders and cleaning material during August, September and October, 2016. The CBI carried out a sting operation and caught the accused red-handed when he was accepting the bribe of  `20,000 from the complainant.


In another case, the CBI arrested a trackman working in the office of DRM, Northern Railway, Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) for demanding and accepting a bribe of `30,000 from the complainant. A case was registered against the accused.

The bribe was allegedly demanded for passing the complainant’s heavy vehicle through a Railway crossing. In this case too, the accused was caught red-handed via a sting operation. The accused was produced in Court and remanded to judicial custody.
