BENGALURU: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike is planning to construct 13 multi-car parking lots in Bengaluru. These parking lots will come up in market areas where there is no commercial activity.
BBMP standing committee chairman for Taxation and Finanace M K Gunashekar told Express that they inspected Akkipet, Balepet, Chikkapet, Cottonpet and other places near M R market. These markets have shops that are now shut and there is no other commercial activity here.
Gunashekar added that core areas in the city has parking problems. “If we convert these dead spaces into parking spots, it will be helpful. We are announcing the same in our budget. We will give it to a consultancy to prepare a feasibility report on the number of vehicles parked that can be accommodated in the available space,” he said.
