BENGALURU: A 13-year-old boy was allegedly beaten up with a plastic pipe at a private school in the city recently. The reason: His parents failed to pay the school fee on time.

According to the complaint filed by parents at Sampigehalli police station, the administrator of the aided school beat up the boy on February 27. Police are probing the matter.

The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken up a suo motu case and issued a notice to the school authorities.

In their complaint, the parents stated that the boy was injured after the assault. They have also submitted a medical certificate.

The parents also alleged that the boy was physically and mentally harassed in the school in the past as well, which has affected his interest in studies. They alleged that the harassment continued even after the dues had been cleared. They have demanded action against the school management.

However, a representative of the school management spoke to Express and refuted the allegations. The school will fight the case legally, he said.

It may be recalled that several cases of students being beaten up in schools have been reported in the city. A government school teacher recently beat up several class 10 students for poor performance in a test. ENS
