Chargesheet filed in Kammanahalli case

Two months after a woman was molested, police say that the accused had planned the attack

BENGALURU: Banasawadi police have filed a 164-page chargesheet in connection with the alleged groping of a woman in Kammanahalli on January 1.
The chargesheet was filed in 11th ACMM Court on Saturday. The chargesheet has statements of the woman and 32 witnesses. It also has the narration of Prashanth Francis, whose CCTV camera installed outside his house recorded the incident.

The young woman was molested by ITI student Aiyappa and his college-dropout friend Leno. Based on a suo motu case, Banaswadi police arrested Aiyappa (19), Leno (20), Sudesh (20), James (20), Somashekar (24) and George (23), all residents of Kammanahalli.

The chargesheet stated: “The woman was a target of Aiyappa and Leno who had been following her movements for a week. They also learnt that she was coming home late at night. They were waiting for an opportunity to catch her and take her to an isolated place. On January 1, they saw that she was dropped near the house and was alone. They followed and molested her. As she screamed for help, they fled the scene. During interrogation, they revealed that they had planned the crime well in advance.”
