Pedestrian subways in Bengaluru must be shut: KJ George

Bengaluru Development Minister K J George said pedestrian underpasses in the city are not scientifically done and need to be closed.

BENGALURU: Bengaluru Development Minister K J George said pedestrian underpasses in the city are not scientifically done and need to be closed.
There is a need to have skywalks with escalators and lifts instead.

The underpasses at Le Meridien hotel and Cauvery theatre junction are unscientific and there is no choice but to barricade these underpasses when there is water logging, he said.
“If the steel bridge project had been approved, these could have been dealt with, now we will have to look for an alternative,” he said. He said the government is looking at building 1,500 skywalks and 400 toilets in the city.
