Security guard sexually assaults minor, arrested

BENGALURU: HAL police have arrested a 27-year-old security guard for allegedly sexually assaulting a five-year-old, here on Wednesday. The girl lived in the neighbourhood where he worked.

The arrested has been identified as Rajendra, a native of Odisha, who worked in the city as security guard at a construction site. 

According to police, the incident took place on March 20, at around 4.30 pm. Rajendra who was under the influence of alcohol during his working hours lured the victim with chocolate and took her to the construction site. He, then allegedly, sexually assaulted the child.

Reaching home, the girl told her parents that she was suffering from stomach pain. After inquiring, the parents realised that the girl has been sexually assaulted.

The victim’s father and the neighbours later barged into the construction site where Rajendra was living in a temporary shed. They thrashed him and alerted the police. Meanwhile, Rajendra managed to escape from their clutches and fled.

A police complaint was registered on the same day. A team was formed to nab the accused, who discovered that Rajendra had kept his mobile phone inside the shed. Police the tried collecting information from his friends and family members. They also collected details from the security agency which had hired Rajendra. 

Based on a tip off, HAL police on Wednesday morning arrested Rajendra and have booked him under sections of POCSO Act.
