No clarity over pending BBMP bills: Opposition

BENGALURU: The BJP came down heavily on the Congress for the recent Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike budget at the BBMP office here on Monday.

While the ruling party leader Rizwan boasted about the initiatives taken in the budget, leader of the opposition party Padmanabha Reddy trashed the budget calling it a replica of previous year’s budget presented by former chairman for Taxation and Finance Mr Shivraj. There was an uproar on the lack of clarity over the spillover works and pending bills.

Padmanabha Reddy asked, “Why spillover works and pending bills weren’t included in the budget book?”
He added, “This year’s outlay stands at Rs 9,241 crore. Spillover works and pending bills has crossed Rs 10,000 crore. This should have been included in the budget technically. I want to know how is BBMP planning to settle the pending bills? The budget says that the pending bills are just Rs 1,000 crore,
whereas it remains silent on the pending bills of three to four years.”
