BENGALURU: On Sunday, Brigade Road became the first street in the Bengaluru city to reserve 20 percent of car parking slots here for women.

Mayor Sampath Raj and MLA N A Haris inaugurated the novel venture.

Ten parking slots on the road (beginning from Bata showroom to the Puma showroom) will be reserved for ladies. More slots will be added towards the end of the road shortly.

“The facility will be launched in Church Road shortly while the multi-storeyed parking complex coming up at Gandhinagar will have an extra reservation for women, up to 25 percent,” the Mayor said. The complex can house 500 cars and 550 two-wheelers, he added.
