S G Vasudev moves Art Park from traditional venues, will take it to several localities in city.

BENGALURU: On popular demand, the monthly event Art Park aimed to popularise art and make it accessible to the public may soon be conducted in various localities in the city.

Established artist and founder of the event, S G Vasudev, says that he has been getting numerous requests from residents of localities such as Whitefield, Koramangala, HSR Layout and Yeshwanthpur to conduct the event in their respective areas.

So far the event has been organised at usual locations such as the Chitrakala Parishat, Venkatappa Art Gallery to name a few. “Many have told me that they want to be there for the event, but just that it was conducted in a place that was far too away from their own homes,” says Vasudev.

The thought and talk about conducting the event have been going on for the past two months, adds Vasudev, “We have been seriously toying with the idea and can definitely conduct the event according to the requests of people. But the only thing is that we need sponsorship to organise each of these events. For every event we need at least around Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 for things such as snacks for the artists and other arrangements like table, chairs and seats, canvas,” he adds.

The latest event can happen as early as September or October says Vasudev. “We are planning an event at MG Road on the request of one lady who is ready to sponsor the event.”

The monthly event could turn into a bi-monthly event says Vasudev. “We can hold the regular Art Park on the first Sunday of the month and have the other event in a locality on a Sunday of the third week,” says Vasudev.

Vasudev also says that he has got requests from even the metro authorities to conduct the event in any one of the metro stations but will decide on the same later.
